Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: August 13, 2026

Foliomere is a local-first study reader. This policy explains how the Foliomere iOS app handles information. The current version has no accounts, advertising, behavioral analytics, or third-party tracking.

1. Data processed by the app

The app processes and stores EPUB, PDF, TXT, and Markdown files that you choose to import, together with reading progress, highlights, bookmarks, notes, note tags, recall schedules, and reading preferences. This data is used only to provide reading and study features on your device and is not uploaded to developer-operated servers.

2. Data we do not collect

The current version does not collect identifiers, contact information, location, browsing history, diagnostics, advertising identifiers, or user content. We do not use data for tracking, advertising, profiling, or sale.

3. File access and system services

When you choose a document or export folder through the iOS document picker, iOS grants the app the access needed for that selected item. System backup behavior is controlled by your device and Apple Account settings and does not mean that the developer collects your data.

Imported EPUB content is blocked from making automatic HTTP, HTTPS, or WebSocket requests. If you intentionally tap an external link, iOS opens the destination outside the reader; that website or app may process standard connection information under its own privacy policy.

Foliomere Pro is an optional, one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple provides the app with cryptographically verified purchase and original-app-version status so it can unlock Pro or recognize eligible early readers. Foliomere stores only the resulting entitlement state on your device. The developer does not receive payment details, Apple Account credentials, or your reading data.

4. Third-party open-source components

The app uses Readium Swift Toolkit to parse and render EPUB files on-device, along with related open-source components for document processing and safety checks. The current version does not use these components to upload your documents or study records. Licenses are available in the app under About & Privacy.

5. Retention, export, and deletion

By default, data remains in the app sandbox for as long as you choose. Removing a book deletes its local copy, bookmarks, and highlights. Notes you actively wrote remain in Study with the source marked as removed; their source title, author, format, excerpt, and position metadata are retained, but they can no longer open the removed book. From Study, you can save or share Markdown copies of your notes.

If you explicitly select an external folder for sidecar export, Foliomere stores a system bookmark for that folder and attempts to reuse the access granted by the selected file provider. If access is no longer available, the app asks you to choose the folder again. Foliomere writes generated Markdown notes plus a small manifest only inside a Foliomere subfolder. Files there are governed by the storage provider you selected and may remain after you delete the app. Stopping folder export does not delete copies already written there. Foliomere detects external edits and keeps them by default instead of silently overwriting them.

Deleting Foliomere removes its local sandbox data through iOS, but does not delete Markdown copies exported to an external folder or another app. Copies in system backups are governed by Apple's backup settings and retention practices.

6. Children's privacy

The app does not require an account and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users. Private documents that users import are not received or published by the developer.

7. Support website

This support website uses Cloudflare Pages for delivery and security and contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking scripts. Cloudflare may process technical connection information necessary to deliver and protect the website and troubleshoot failures. This is separate from the local reading data inside the Foliomere app.

8. Changes to this policy

If a future release introduces cloud sync, accounts, analytics, or other data transfers, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure before those features become active and request consent where required by law.
